OUR STORY & MISSION

Since 1977, when we first opened in the basement of our family home, Local Motion has grown into a vibrant, welcoming community for dancers of all ages and abilities. Our mission is to nurture extraordinary individuals as well as extraordinary dancers, helping students grow in skill, artistry, and confidence while feeling supported every step of the way. Many of our alumni return with their own children, because once you’re part of Local Motion, you’re family for life.

OUR BELIEFS

We believe dancers can train hard, reach for excellence, and still have time to simply be kids. That’s why we consciously limit weekend practices, leaving space for family, friends, and balance. In our studio, teammates become lifelong friends through a culture of respect, encouragement, and teamwork.

We treat every dancer with care and expect the same in return from students, families, and staff alike. Being part of a team here means learning responsibility, collaboration, and mutual support, skills that last long after the music stops.

WHAT WE OFFER

Our classes include ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, lyrical, and hip hop, with opportunities to grow through performances, conventions, and competitions. Whether you’re stepping into the studio for the first time or preparing for advanced competition, you’ll find expert guidance, a positive atmosphere, and a community that celebrates both your progress and your passion.
